Schrock Estimate

The estimate for the Schrock cabinets from Bray and Scarff was WAY over the estimate from Lowe's. 

So I will stick with the original plan: Diamond Cabinets at Lowe's.

Making progress on the renovations plans

I had my appointment today with one of the kitchen designers at Bray & Scarff.  I handed over my layout and we started talking options and making decisions. 

Here are the picks:

Cabinets: Huxley door style in maple with a white finish.
Countertops:  Bianco Romano granite.

Did I  mention that I am also doing the fireplace facade in the living room?  That will be done in quartz using Silestone's Yukon Blanco.

The flooring will be an engineered red oak in a dark brown stain.  This will go in throughout the apartment.

Here's how everything looks all together.

My next appointment is on Saturday. We'll finalize some of the details and nail down the price of the cabinets.

Oh and the best news of all?  The countertops come free!

Jenn-Air

Let's all agree on this: there are way too many appliance options to choose from. 

After agonizing over Electrolux versus GE, LG, KitchenAid, JennAir, Kenmore, and Frigidaire I narrowed it down to Electrolux and JennAir.

I seriously considered Electrolux over the others - mainly because Electrolux is a corporate sponsor of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and I am a big supporter of that organization.  Electrolux has beautiful appliances but ultimately I decided to go with the more streamlined, sleek "Euro-Style" appliances by JennAir. 

Here they are:

30" Cooktop with electronic controls

30" Chimney-style Range Hood

36" French-door with Bottom-Freezer

And last but not least:  24" Trifecta Dishwasher

Schrock Cabinets

I heard on the radio that Bray and Scarff is having a 30% off sale on Schrock Cabinets. 

As it turns out, Schrock and Diamond cabinets are made by the same parent company so they have nearly identical door styles and finishes.

So I have an appointment this week at B&S to price out Schrock Cabinets. 

Here are the leading contenders from Schrock:

I've been looking lately at Diamond Cabinets at Lowe's. The cabinets will be white, but I haven't decided on the door style yet.
